CONCRETE AND MASONRY
CONCRETE HORIZONTAL SURFACES
(FLOORS AND STAIRS, ETC.)
Concrete is a mixture of sand and/or gravel aggregates in a binder of
Portland cement and water. The Portland cement and water undergo a chemical
reaction called hydration. There are several types of concrete with differing
properties that result from variations of aggregate blend and binder ratio.
Most concrete floors have many fine pores throughout the slab and can
benefit from a coating that minimizes stains and reduces dust and dirt
collection.
ALKYD FLOOR ENAMEL (GLOSS)
Alkyd floor enamel is effective for residential and commercial
applications. Gloss surfaces can be slippery. The addition of a non-skid
aggregate should be considered, particularly on stair treads and landings.
Resistance to water and chemicals is good.
LATEX FLOOR ENAMEL (LOW GLOSS)
Latex floor enamel is effective on low to moderate traffic surfaces
in residential and light commercial buildings.
ALKYD ZONE / TRAFFIC MARKING
This system is for zone and traffic line marking on interior
concrete parking or walking surfaces. The system is available in standard
yellow and white marking colors. It can also be ordered in red, blue and
black. The system is fast drying and can be sprayed over stencils.
EPOXY
Epoxy coatings offer excellent chemical and abrasion resistance and
are effective in industrial and high traffic areas. Consult your local
GP Paint Pro for an epoxy system recommendation.
CONCRETE MASONRY UNITS
(CONCRETE BLOCK AND CONCRETE BRICK)
Concrete is a mixture of sand and/or gravel aggregates in a binder of
Portland cement and water. The Portland cement and water undergo a chemical
reaction called hydration. There are several types of concrete with differing
properties that result from variations of aggregate blend and binder ratio.
Concrete blocks and bricks come in a variety of shapes and sizes and
are produced using vibration and pressure to provide uniform density and
strength. Smooth sided blocks are generally known as "standard".
Scored, split faced, or striated, are generally known as "profiled".
